The (CERT) program helps train people to be better
prepared to respond to emergency situations in the community. When
emergencies occur, CERT members can give critical support to first
responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous
volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can also help with non-emergency
projects that help improve the safety of the community.
During the training you will learn about the hazards
that face our community, disaster preparedness, how to perform basic first
aid, put out small fires, conduct triage, team operations and to perform
light search and rescue. The training also includes a disaster simulation in
which participants practice skills that they learned throughout the course.

This course teaches CPR and relief of choking in adults
& children; Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) use and use of various
types of barriers. A Heartsaver AED Course Completion Card will be
issued upon completion of this course.

Students will learn about the common causes of fires,
fire prevention tips, how to conduct a home safety inspection, how to develop
a fire escape plan, smoke detector maintenance tips and other fire safety
related information.
This course satisfies the requirements for the BSA
First-Aid Merit Badge. Scouts will learn techniques for CPR &
rescue breathing as well as basic first-aid for sudden illness and injury.
