Chris D. Evans
Fire Chief
After more than two decades of fire, EMS, and law
enforcement experience, Chris Evans was appointed to serve
as South Jordan's 5th Fire Chief on January 29, 2006.
Chief Evans began his career in public safety as a part-time firefighter for West Jordan City. Within two years he was working full-time as a Public Safety Officer (police officer & firefighter). Over the next 15+ years Evans served in a variety of promoted and specialty positions including Patrol Officer, Firefighter-EMT, S.W.A.T. Medic, Fire Lieutenant and Fire Captain. Further, he served as the Department's first full-time training officer during which time he developed and implemented a 13-week recruit training academy, in-service training program and Firefighter Survival Course.
In November of 2001, Evans accepted a position as the Operations Battalion Chief with South Jordan City Fire Department. Over the next few years his duties and responsibilities expanded to include writing and managing grants, developing and managing the special operations teams to include S.W.A.T., Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue, and managing the records division, victim advocate program and Emergency Management Program. In August of 2005, he was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief and nearly six months later to Fire Chief.
Chief Evans earned a Fire Science Degree from Utah Valley State College, has completed additional course work at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland, and holds a wide variety of fire and law enforcement related certifications. He is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Utah State Fire Chiefs Association and the National Fire Protection Association.

Wayne Edginton
Battalion Chief
Battalion Chief Edginton began his career with the Salt Lake City Fire Department where he served for thirty-one years. His experience includes service as a Paramedic, Operations Captain, Battalion Chief, and Medical Division Chief. As a member of Utah Task Force One, Battalion Chief Edginton served as the Safety Officer during the USAR deployments to hurricanes Katrina and Ernesto.
In addition, he has been involved in a variety of other fire and EMS related assignments and projects during his career. This includes serving as one of the Olympic Village Commanders during the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics and working as the Chief Flight Medic for Air-Med.
After retiring from Salt Lake City Fire Department in January of 2007, Battalion Chief Edginton accepted a position with South Jordan Fire Department. Today, his primary responsibilities include management of the departments Emergency Medical Services program and oversight of A Platoon.
Battalion Chief Edginton has a degree in Fire Science from Utah Valley State College and has completed numerous resident National Fire Academy courses.
Jeremy Allen
Battalion Chief
A Utah native, Jeremy Allen began his career in 1990 as a Volunteer Firefighter with South Jordan shortly after graduating from Bingham High School. Following a brief exposure to the fire service, he knew he had found his dream career.
In October of 1997, Battalion Chief Allen was promoted to a full time position as a Firefighter Engineer. He promoted to Fire Captain in July of 2002 and Battalion Chief in January of 2007. Prior to promoting to Battalion Chief, he served in several specialty positions including Fire Investigator, S.W.A.T. Medic and Juvenile Firesetter Specialist. Today, Allen is responsible for the management of the departments training program, fire investigation program and he also has oversight of B Platoon.
Battalion Chief Allen is married to a very loving and supportive wife; they have three children, one girl and two boys. Allen loves spending time with his family. He has a great appreciation for the outdoors, he loves to hunt, fish, and spend time on his boat with his wife and kids.
Battalion Chief Allen has truly enjoyed serving the citizens of South Jordan for the past seventeen years, and hopes to continue to serve the citizens for many more years to come.
Andrew Butler
Battalion Chief
Andrew Butler began his career in 1995 working part-time for Draper City Ambulance and Salt Lake County Fire Department. He joined South Jordan Fire Department in 1997 as a part-time firefighter. Two years later, he accepted a full-time position as a firefighter. Andy attended paramedic school at Utah Valley State College and spent a number of years working as a paramedic. He was promoted to Captain in January of 2007. A short eight months later, on October 7, 2007, he was appointed to serve as a Battalion Chief.
Throughout his career with the South Jordan City Fire Department Battalion Chief Butler has been involved with a variety of special projects and programs. Some of these include: grant writing, pre-hospital 12-lead EKG, and the public access automated external defibrillator program. He has served in a variety of specialty positions within the fire department including: SWAT medic, hazardous materials technician, and grant writing specialist. Today, his primary responsibilities include management of the Special Operation Program, Community Education Program and C Platoon.
Battalion Chief Butler holds an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science, a Bachelor of Science in Finance and is currently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program at the University of Utah with expected graduation in May 2009.
Andrew resides in Riverton with his beautiful wife and their small family consisting of a yellow Labrador retriever and two cats. He loves riding his motorcycle and spending time in the outdoors doing any number of activities including: camping, hiking, and fishing.
